80% of Ukrainians negatively evaluate the leader of China, 99% – the head of the Russian Federation

The majority of Ukrainians have a negative attitude towards the leader of China Xi Jinping and the head of Russia Vladimir Putin, according to the results of the survey by the sociological group “Rating”, conducted as part of the international End of Year Survey of the Gallup International association.

Details: According to the research data, 80% of respondents have a negative assessment of the leader of the People’s Republic of China: 40% – very negative, another 40% – rather negative. 10% of respondents expressed a positive attitude, another 10% could not decide.

The attitude towards Putin is almost unanimously negative: 99% of Ukrainians declared a negative assessment.

In the international arena, Putin is also perceived mostly negatively. According to the results of the survey, approximately two-thirds of respondents in 58 countries gave him such an assessment. It is noted that the most negative assessments are in the countries of Northern Europe, Estonia, South Korea, the Netherlands, Poland, Japan and Spain.

At the same time, respondents in Serbia, India, Azerbaijan, South Africa, Thailand, Armenia, Kenya, Mexico, Malaysia and Ecuador have a relatively more positive attitude towards the leader of the Russian Federation.

For reference: The survey in Ukraine was conducted on November 11-14, 2025 by the method of telephone interviews with the use of a computer (CATI). The sample is 1,000 respondents aged 18 and over in all regions of Ukraine, except for the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and Donbas, as well as territories where there was no Ukrainian mobile connection at the time of the survey.

The sample was formed by randomly dialing mobile numbers, and the results were weighted taking into account the current data of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine. It is representative in terms of age, gender and type of settlement. The theoretical error is no more than 3.1% with a confidence probability of 0.95.

The international release of the End of Year Survey about world politicians included survey data from 58 countries – a total of 57,864 respondents.
