According to the results of the survey, both Ukrainian and Russian are equally native to 13% of respondents (in 2015, it was 22%). The share of those who named Russian as their native language is 6%, ten years ago it was much higher – 15%.
The survey shows that 70.5% of respondents speak only or mostly Ukrainian at home, in 2015 it was 50%. 11% of respondents speak only or mostly Russian at home, in 2015 there were 24%. 18% speak Ukrainian and Russian approximately equally, compared to 25% ten years ago.

The survey was conducted between November 29 and December 14, 2024.
Using the face-to-face method, 1,518 respondents over the age of 18 who live in the territories controlled by the government of Ukraine and where hostilities are not taking place were interviewed.
As the results of a survey by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, published in March last year, showed, the majority of Ukrainians are in favor of the complete elimination of the Russian language from official communication.
