The total customs value of imported cars amounted to almost $1.27 billion. Of this amount, 14,100 electric cars were new (+26%), and 47,600 were used (+62%). Used cars still make up the majority of the market thanks to the lower price and availability of popular models.
The customs value of new electric cars was $363.5 million, while used ones were $906.3 million. The average cost of one new electric car was about $26,000, while a used one was about $19,000.
Among suppliers of new cars, China dominates – it accounts for 92% of all deliveries. Japan is in second place (3%), and Germany is in third place (2%). Chinese brands, in particular BYD, Zeekr, MG and Chery, are actively strengthening their positions on the Ukrainian market.
In the segment of used electric vehicles, the USA leads (40%), followed by South Korea (16%) and Germany (15%). Tesla, Nissan Leaf and Hyundai Kona remain the most popular models among used cars.
In general, analysts note that the Ukrainian electric car market continues to grow steadily, and the interest in “green” transport on the part of consumers and businesses is only increasing.
We remind you that the growth of the electric car market is observed not only in Ukraine. Global sales of electric cars increased by 26% and reached a record 2.1 million units.
