Almost half of the Danes believe that the United States is a significant threat to their country – the claims of US President Donald Trump on Greenland have led to this.

Details: Public opinion studies have shown that 46% of respondents consider the United States a very great threat “or” quite a great threat “to Denmark. This is more than the number of those who consider North Korea or Iran’s threat – 44% and 40% respectively.
At the same time, the threat from Russia remains much higher: 86% of respondents said they consider Moscow a threat.
Also, 78% of those polled oppose the sale of Greenland, but 72% said that the final decision should be by Greenland, not Denmark.
The study lasted from January 15 to January 22, it was attended by just over 1000 Danish inhabitants.
Prehistory:
- In recent weeks, Donald Trump has again talked about the desire to buy Greenland, strategically important and minerals rich in the Arctic Island in Denmark.
- According to FT, Denmark has proposed the EU and NATO a common strategy for Trump’s encroachment on Greenland, which is to refrain from response to US Presidential statements.
- Denmark also decided to invest additional resources in the defense of the Arctic region.
