At the same time, he was sentenced for a combination of committed crimes, including treason and aiding the Russian Federation in waging an aggressive war against Ukraine, for which he was sentenced to 13 years in prison by the Obolon District Court of Kyiv dated January 24, 2019.”

Details: At the same time, the former deputy head of the UDO, who was involved in the same case with Yanukovych, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for organizing the illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine and desertion under Part 2 of Article 332, Part 2 of Art. 408 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Prosecutors proved in court that on February 23, 2014, Yanukovych illegally crossed the state border of Ukraine by air and organized the transportation of at least 20 people from among his close circle and military personnel of the State Security Department.

The flight was carried out outside the checkpoints across the state border for air traffic.

They claim that the convicts took off in three Russian military helicopters under the control of a Russian pilot from the outskirts of the village of Urzuf, Mangush District, Donetsk Region, to the military airfield in the city of Yeisk (Russia).

After staying there for some time, the traitors flew to Anapa, and from there on a military transport plane headed to the Gvardiyske airfield in Crimea.

In the city of Sevastopol, Yanukovych incited the desertion of UDO servicemen who were guarding him. As a result, a part of the State Guard left for Russia with the ex-president by sea from Sevastopol – as a result, they did not return to Ukrainian military service, the OGP said.
