Ukrainian tennis player Diana Yastremska She commented on the victory over Anastasia Zakharova in the second round of the 2025 Wimbledon Tournament:

– A heavy match came out. Almost until the end of the second set you could not get to the break. What was the main difficulty for you in today’s match?

– It was emotionally difficult. When you play against the Russians, you want to win completely different feelings. It adds motivation, but at the same time it is slightly inside.

At first, she could not fully feel her game. She was strange so that I couldn’t get used to it. Closer to the second set, I have already been able to find some solutions that helped to flip the game. I don’t even know what to say why I couldn’t make a break. Somehow, everything happened to a certain moment today. Won this match just on character.

– In the decisive set at 3-0, after your series of seven won games in a row, suddenly her cabec has begun. Did you have a decline or she was able to add at that moment?

– At 3-0 in the third set, I seemed to play normally, there was a battle game, but she added so well. She began to punch, she all flew and somehow happened. I can not say that I had a downtime, maybe at that moment I was a little tired and as a result everything was so delayed.

To be honest, I do not even remember all these moments from the game, because everything was so flew that I even caught myself thinking that “oh, we are already playing the third set, how quickly.” I just concentrated that I wanted to take this victory in any way.

– You played the first match under the roof on the big court, and today on the street and cord smaller. Big difference in grass conditions?

– a very big difference between the first court and the court # 14. First, the roof-yes, but the grass, as it seemed, was faster and more slippery on the first court. Of course, the scale difference is felt.

– After the match with Coco Goff there were many posts, videos, discussions about you and your game. How much you pay attention to it or can be distracted and concentrated in the tournament. How often do you check the social networks this week?

-In any case, I see all posts, videos, discussions and I cannot say that it distracts me-I like it, I am pleased. I get positive emotions, it encourages me and adds energy. I cannot say that I check very often, but I see everything, I watch everything.

After the match with Coco, I tried to stay calm, emotionally, mentally and was set to stay in focus and move on step by step, doing its work. But at the same time, this moment was one of the most memorable and he should pay attention. But now the attention is paid to the next circle. Tomorrow is a little rest, I work out and move on.

– Then you have Spanish Jessica Buzas Maniro, who also loves active tennis. What do you know about her game?

– I do not know Jessica well, I saw her match against Svitolina in Rome. A good girl, a very good tennis. I will prepare, I will look at her matches tomorrow, we will discuss with the coach. Let’s look, but again – I keep the focus on myself.

My task is to feel free on the court and really kyaiferous from the game. Because today, I cannot say what I felt today and honey from the game – no. I really wanted to bring this victory not only to themselves, but also for anyone who supports me for Ukraine. I understand that even those who do not follow the tennis, they will see this news and it will bring them some positive emotions.
