Initially, in the 1/16 finals, Dayana was supposed to meet Sorana Kirstea (Romania, WTA 41), but the Romanian withdrew from the 500 round due to an ankle injury.
I replaced Kirstya Kateryna Sinyakova (Czech Republic, WTA 46), who received the status of lucky loser. Sinyakova was defeated by Emily Chen at the start of the qualification [6:2, 6:0]and then yielded to Yelena-Gabriela Ruse [6:3, 3:6, 2:6].
The meeting between Yastremska and Sinyakova will take place on January 13 at approximately 08:30 Kyiv time. This will be the first face-to-face confrontation between a Ukrainian and a Czech.
If Diana manages to pass Kateryna, then in the second round she will fight either Diana Schneider or Leila Fernandez.
