“Australian tennis player Max Persell got a year and a half of disqualification”, – WRITE: Sport.ua
The 27-year-old Perselle, who in September 2024 reached the highest career in the paired category-eighth position, recognized the violation of Article 2.2 TADP (use of the prohibited method), receiving intravenous infusions of more than 500 ml on 16 and December 20, 2023. The Limit, according to the World Anti-Doping Code and TADP, is 100 ml for a 12-hour period.
On December 12, 2024, ITIA sent a message to the player about a potential violation of anti -doping rules (ADRV), and on the same day the player invited a voluntary temporary removal that came into force immediately.
After a thorough ITIA investigation, which included the collection of evidence and interview with the player, Persell recognized as a violation. The player’s full cooperation and the exchange of information with ITIA made it possible to reduce the sanction by 25%.
The time taken within the limits of voluntary temporary removal is credited to the disqualification period. Thus, the disqualification of Persell will end on June 11, 2026. The player will also lose the results and prizes obtained from the date of the first ADRV (December 16, 2023) to the first subsequent negative doping test, which was submitted on February 3, 2024.
ITIA CEO Karen Murchaus commented on the situation: “This case is not related to the positive result of the player’s test for a forbidden substance, but demonstrates that anti -doping rules are wider. It also shows that ITIA considers intelligence from various sources for the main purpose to protect anyone to whom the anti -doping rules of tennis are applied to and to ensure equal conditions for all. ”
During the disqualification of Persell, it is forbidden to play, train or attend any tennis activities, sanctioned or organized by ITIA (ATP, ITF, WTA, Tennis Australia, Fédération Française de tennis, Wimbledon and Usta) or any national).
