Alcaraz had a second faceoff against Walton. In 2025, Carlos beat Adam in the 1/16 finals of the competition in London.

Alcaraz took his first win in 2026. Carlos made it to the second round of the Australian Open for the fifth time in his career.

Alcaraz became the fourth player in the Open Era to win the opening match in each of his first 20 Grand Slam singles appearances. Arthur Ashe, Björn Borg and Rafael Nadal have done it before.

Carlitos’ next opponent will be Yannick Sinner’s namesake – Hanfmann. Sinner himself is in the opposite part of the grid with the second seed and their meeting with Alcaraz is possible only in the final. The Italian will start at the major in Melbourne on January 20 with a match against Hugo Gaston.
