This decision was not spontaneous – Oleksandra made a statement in advance that she was not going to shake hands with Bondar, who in 2022 played at the Northern Palmyra Trophy exhibition tournament in St. Petersburg, sponsored by Gazprom.
Also, Oliynikova did not take any joint photos with Bondar.
For Oleksandra, this is her debut appearance in the main draw of the WTA tournament. In the first round of the competition, she coped with Maylar Sherif.
