The owner of 59 titles of a large helmet in different digits Martina Navratylova In 1975 she left her native Czechoslovakia to ask the US. She dreamed of becoming the first racket of the world, but in her country, which was in the midst of the Cold War under the control of the communist regime, she did not see the future for herself.

While participating in the Open US Championship, Martin decided to stay in the United States. In 1981, she received American citizenship (now has dual citizenship: the United States and the Czech Republic). Today, according to the athlete, if she was in the same situation, she would not have chosen the United States because of Donald Trump’s policy. She told about it in an interview with BBC.

“If I was in the situation again (as in 1975) and I would have to choose where to live, it would definitely not be the United States, because now it is not democracy,” she says.

Navratilova believes that she would not even be allowed into this country today. It is worried that the US is turning into a totalitarian state.

“The country is clearly tuning against immigrants. The Ministry of Internal Security deport people only because they do not fully agree with the order of Trump … because they do not kiss him. ”

Also, Navratilova commented on the topic of participation of transgender women in sports. It disagrees with the current WTA rules, according to which transgender women can participate in women’s competitions in the presence of a written statement that they identify themselves as women or non -infinite persons, and provided that the level of testosterone in them was lower than the established threshold for two years.

“There should be no isolation or harassment, but men’s bodies should compete in men’s disciplines. They can continue to speak. There is no ban on sports for transitions. They just need to compete in the appropriate category – that is, in the male. And all. ”
