Kostiuk in the 1st round of the Australian Open will play against Nao Hibino (Japan, WTA 143). The 30-year-old Japanese woman passed the qualification sieve, beating Marina Stakusych (Canada, WTA 122), Ekaterina Makarova (WTA 245) and Harriet Dart (Great Britain, WTA 113) on her way.
If Marta overcomes Hibino, then in the 1/32 finals she can meet the winner of the confrontation between Jule Niemeyer (Germany, WTA 92) and Maja Chwalinska (Poland, WTA 126).
Kostyuk and Hibino played each other three times. The score is 2:1 in favor of the Ukrainian.
Bullfinch at the start of the Australian major, she will take the court against 10th seed Danielle Collins (USA, WTA 11). In case of victory, Daria will play either Grete Minnen (Belgium, WTA 94) or Destani Ayava (Australia, WTA 195) in the 2nd round.
