To date, the joll remains the oldest champion of the Great Helmet tournament (among men and women) in an open era – a record that Novak Djokovich can beat if another Major wins.
In the new release of the Sit-Down Podcast, Ken Ridollle said that he thinks that the 24-time champion of “Hello” from Serbia could exceed his achievement.
“In any case, I do not mind, but novak, you know, deserves his records, which he has so much. He won more “helmets” than anyone else, so another one else will not hurt, “said 90-year-old piss.
“It was just one of many events for me. I continued to play tennis – that’s what was in shape, in tone. ”
The victory that made a record holder occurred at the Australian Open in 1972. A 37-year-old tennis player beat Mel Anderson’s 36-year-old compatriot in the Golden Veterans match on Kuionng County when the Australian Championships were held on a grass.
“The grid was not as strong as it could be, because many Europeans did not like to play on grass in Australia, and they did not seek it too,” said the noll. “So the 1972 tournament suddenly became very interesting for the tennis fans in Melbourne, and the stands were crowded – it was great when Mel played the finale.”
Many decades have passed since then. The nozzle, the eight -time champion of a large helmet tournament, completed his career after 25 years on a professional round.
But, as he confesses, he thinks not about longevity in sports.
“The only thing I mention is the tournaments that he had to win, could win, had a chance … For example, my four finals on Wimbledon,” says Razoll, who last played in the Wimbledon finals in 1974 at the age of 39.
Nevertheless, his unsurpassed age record remains one of the greatest achievements in tennis history.
“Victory in 1972,” he added, “is what I still remember.”
