The leadership of the All-Angel Club expects to open a monument in 2027 in the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the first Wimbledon Championship, which took place in 1877.
Marray won the British Major in 2013 and 2016, and also won the Olympic Medal on the same courts in 2012.
The 38-year-old Briton, who has completed his career last year, will directly participate in the creation of the monument.
“We plan to erect a monument to Andy Marray on Wimbledon and work closely with him and his team,” said the head of the All -Unachance Club Debbie Jwan. -“Our goal is to tim for the opening of the monument to the 150th anniversary of our first championship.”
The decision to establish a monument was made after numerous calls to perpetuate Marrei’s triumphs on Wimbledon. Among those who advocated this are tennis legends John Makinro and Billy Gin King, who believed that the monument would be a worthy recognition of Marrea’s contribution to the development of sports and the tournament himself.
Marrea’s victory in 2013 put an end to the 77-year expectation of Wimbledon Champion among British men. The previous champion – Fred Perry – was immortalized by a bronze statue in 1984.
