The first Aus Open semi-finalist at the top of the men’s draw has been determined

22-year-old American tennis player Ben Shelton (ATP 20) made it to the semi-finals of the 2025 Australian Open.

In the quarterfinals, the American lost in four sets Lorenzo Sonego (Italy, ATP 55) in 3 hours and 52 minutes.

This was the third meeting of the rivals. Ben won the second head-to-head.

In the semifinals, Shelton will play against the winner of the Yannick Sinner – Alex de Minaur match.

Shelton reached the semifinals at the level of Grand Slam tournaments for the second time in his career. In 2023, he played on this stage at the US Open, where he lost to Novak Djokovic.
