In the final round of qualification, the 32-year-old Georgian defeated Francesco Passaro (Italy, ATP 105) with a score of 6:3, 6:3.
In addition to Passaro, Nikolas also passed Cruz Hewitt (Australia, ATP 1263) and Alibek Kachmazov (ATP 197) on his way to the base of AO-2025.
Basilashvili will play in the main draw of the Grand Slam tournament for the first time since 2023. He then lost in the 1st round to Taylor Fritz at the Aus Open. In addition, since Roland Garros 2023, Nikoloz did not even qualify for the majors.
Basilashvili’s best achievements on the Melbourne courts are the 3rd round in 2018 and 2019, and in the slams – the 4th round of the US Open.
