24-time winner of Grand Slam tournaments Novak Djokovic (Serbia, ATP 7) reached the 1/8 finals of the 2025 Australian Open.

In the 1/8 finals, Nole defeated in three sets Tomas Makhach (Czech Republic, ATP 25) in 2 hours and 22 minutes.

At the start of the second game, Djokovic took a medical timeout. A physiotherapist came onto the court and gave Novak pills and an inhaler.

This was the third meeting of the rivals. Novak won the second head-to-head match.

Djokovic is a 10-time winner of the Australian Open, which is an absolute record. Last year, Novak was eliminated by eventual champion Yannick Sinner at the semi-final stage.

At AO-2025, Djokovic has also already beaten Nishesh Basavareddy and Jamie Faria. His next opponent will be the 24th-seeded Jiri Legechka (Czech Republic, ATP 29).
