This was the second meeting of the rivals. In 2018, Iga won Emma in the 1st round of the ITF W100 tournament in Charleston, USA.
Sventek reached her seventh Grand Slam semifinal, including her second in Melbourne. In 2022, she lost at this stage to Danielle Collins. During her career, Iga has won major trophies five times – 4 titles at Roland Garros (2020, 2022, 2023, 2024) and 1 at the US Open (2022).
On the way to the semi-finals of AO-2025, Svyontek won all 10 sets in five matches and lost only 14 games, 7 of which Kateryna Sinyakova managed to win.
In the semifinals, Sventek will play against American Madison Keys, who previously defeated Elina Svitolina (Ukraine, WTA 27).
Earlier, Iga played five head-to-head matches with Keys and won four. The only time Madison won against the Poles in Cincinnati-2022 in the 1/8 finals.
