Svitolina dealt with Polka and made it to the 1/16 finals of the Australian Open

The first racket of Ukraine Elina Svitolina (WTA 12) advanced to the third round of the 2026 Australian Open.

In the second round, the Ukrainian defeated the representative of Poland in two sets Linda Klimovichova (WTA 134) in 1 hour and 16 minutes.

Svitolina held a face-to-face confrontation against Klimovichova for the first time.

Her next opponent will be either Talia Gibson or Diana Schneider. At the start of the major in Melbourne, Elina passed Kristina Buksha.

Svitolina will play in the third round of the Grand Slam tournament for the 33rd time in her career and the Australian Open for the 11th time. Last year, Elina reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Slam.

Svitolina won seven matches in 2026 and has not lost a single match so far. Before the start of the Aus Open, the Ukrainian became the WTA 250 champion in Auckland.
