Snigur defeated the Frenchwoman and reached the 1/8 finals of the WTA 250 tournament in Romania

Ukrainian tennis player Darya Snigur (WTA 144) won the opening match of the main draw of the WTA 250 tournament in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

In the first round, the Ukrainian defeated the representative of France in two sets Tiantsoa by Sarah Rakotomanga Rajaona (WTA 116).

Snigur held the first face-to-face confrontation against Tiantsoa.

Daria started in Cluj from the qualification, where she passed Angelina Kalinin and Alyona Bolshova. Her next opponent will be either Lucrezia Stefanini (Italy, WTA 140) or Jacqueline Christian (Romania, WTA 35).

Snigur is competing in the main grid of the competition in Cluj-Napoca for the third time in his career. Her best result on these courts is a quarterfinal in 2023.

Daria won her first WTA main draw win since June 2024 when she defeated Marta Kostyuk at the start of the grass competition in Nottingham.

In addition to Snigur, Ukraine is also represented in Cluj by Oleksandr Oliinikova, who defeated Anna Bondar on February 3 in the second round match.
