Snigur played against Kava for the first time.
Daria won her fourth victory in the 2026 season. Last week, she reached the semifinals of the WTA 125 event in Canberra.
In the second round, Snigur will meet either Astra Sharma (Australia, WTA 157) or Carson Branstin (Canada, WTA 179).
Daria is playing at the Australian Open for the fifth time. In 2024 and 2025, she qualified and left the major at the 1/64 stage.
