Serena Williams Coach: “Men want to cry and women cry”

Patrick Muratoglu told about coaching work with men and women”, – WRITE: Sport.ua

French specialist Patrick Muratoglu He won 36 titles in a single category as a coach, including ten victories in the Great Helmet tournaments.

The 54-year-old Frenchman achieved great success, working with a number of stars on the WTA Women’s Tour. Together with the American legend Serena Williams Muratoglu, he won ten Maidors, twice forming a career big helmet. Patrick also collaborated with several famous ATP tennis players, and perhaps the most loudest name among them was Stephenos Cycipas.

During an interview with the owner of a career of the Great Helme in Daniel Kantukhova, a French specialist distinguished the key difference that he noticed between the training of men and women.

“There is one big difference, and many tennis players told me the same. Male players want to feel that they are bosses. They want you to be behind their back, to make decisions, to control everything, to feel power.

Women, on the contrary, want you to be ahead. It gives them confidence. I feel that they are looking for a sense of security, and for many of them safety is when a coach who makes a decision for them. Not because they cannot themselves, but because it gives them a sense of stability.

If you try to train a man as a woman, he will hate it and nothing will work. Conversely. Of course, there are exceptions, but I think most women like when the coach takes on decision making. ”

At the same time, Muratoglu also dispelled the widespread thought about the difference between ATP and WTA players.

“I have heard a false opinion on the way:” Women are much more emotional than men. ” I was always told about it when it was about coaching work.

But I disagree with that. I believe that men are as emotional as women. The difference is that they do not show it because they want to look strong, they have a developed ego, and they believe that to show emotions-it is not manly. They hide them, but believe me, they feel the same fear before the matches.

Men will not cry because they are ashamed, but they may feel they want to cry. Women are not ashamed to cry.

Therefore, they are not more emotional. They are just much more willing to share their feelings. And in some sense it simplifies me work, because I know for sure what they feel. It is more difficult with men, they do not want to show anything, because they think it makes them weak. ”

Muratoglu is currently training the former first racket of the world and the winner of four Great Helmet tournaments in the single category of Naomi Osaka. And he would undoubtedly like to add another title to his resume in the near future.

Osaka will return to the court at the WTA tournament 125 in Saint-Malo on Monday, April 28.
