The number one Ukrainian tennis player started at the ATP 250 competition in Metz (France) in the qualification, where he was defeated by Oleksandr Shevchenko (Kazakhstan, ATP 97) in the first round, and in the final selection he lost to Clément Tabour (France, ATP 243).
Sachko got into the main draw as a lucky loser and made great use of the given chance. First, he beat Giovanni Mpeschi Perricard (France, ATR 59), who is famous for his powerful serve. And then he created the main sensation of the tournament, knocking out the 13th ranked racket of the world Alexander Bublyk (Kazakhstan).
In the quarter-finals Vitaliy was given a great chance to take revenge on Tabur for the defeat in the final of the qualifiers – Sachko won in three games. On November 7, Vitaliy will fight against US representative Lerner Tien (ATP 38) in the semi-finals of Metz.
For the first time in his career, Vitaly will play in the semi-finals at the Tour level. Also, for the first time since 2017, a Ukrainian tennis player reached such a stage – Oleksandr Dolgopolov did it eight years ago in Shenzhen.
Sachka’s results at the ATP 250 tournament in Metz:

Sport.ua did not cover Sachko’s results for a long time – in March 2025, Vitaly played in the same pair with his collaborator Oleg Prykhodko at the challenger in Cherbourg, where he won the trophy. Vitaly refused to name the reasons for such an act and distanced himself from the Ukrainian audience, in particular by not using his social networks and flash interviews after the matches to talk about the war in Ukraine and to remind about the importance of supporting our country.
For the first time in six months, Vitaly reminded everyone that he is a Ukrainian tennis player. After the victory over Tabur, Sachko gave a flash interview on the court, where at the end he said “Glory to Ukraine!”. In addition, Sachko also gave an interview to journalist Ben Rotenberg, where he talked about the war in Ukraine. In the near future, you will be able to read the interview on the Sport.ua website.
Sport.ua will continue to cover Sachko’s results and hopes that the position he shares in Metz is not a one-time event. In addition, Vitaly has two interview offers “on his hands”: from Sport.ua and the popular tennis resource “Great Tennis of Ukraine”. Vitaly has an excellent chance to dot all the dots above and.
Sport.ua wishes Sachko luck in the upcoming match against Lerner Tien, which will start on November 7 at approximately 19:00 Kyiv time. Sport.ua will conduct a video broadcast of the match.
