But I know for sure that I have no right to compete with her in patriotism. Especially since my dad is not at the front. He is just sitting under shelling in Kyiv. Unfortunately, I did not receive any message from her. If she prefers to spend time in Telegram channels instead of personal communication, that’s her choice.
– Recently, unfortunately, we often see the fact that young Ukrainian players, juniors, start performing together with representatives of Russia and Belarus in pairs, like publications about top players from these countries, etc. In this situation, the narrative that Russia and Belarus are aggressor countries and that it is uncomfortable for our players to be on the same court with them is being blurred. At such a moment, of course, an example of experienced players who have been on the tour for many years and have been playing for the national team for a long time is important. What do you think about this? Perhaps there were such discussions in your small circle or chat?
– One hundred percent it is so, and the example of experienced players plays a big role here. And I am proud of the example of all our girls – Elina, Marta, Lesya, Dayana, Katya, Luda, Yulia, all who defend our flag and defended it on the tour. And the fact that we don’t have handshakes [з тенісистками з росії та білорусі] – their great merit and work. This is a good example.
