Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic published an MRI image of the thigh of the left leg on social networks.

Due to an injury, he was forced to withdraw from the semifinal match of the Australian Open 2025 against Alexander Zverev from Germany.

Specialist in sports medicine Dmytro Babelyuk commented that it can be determined with the help of a picture:

“Djokovic shared his MRI to prove that he was indeed injured. The fans booed Novak in the AO semifinals when he refused to continue the game, citing an injury. This forced the Serb to share a fresh scan on social networks.

This is an axial section of the thigh. The quadriceps muscle (“front”) is circled in blue, the hamstrings (“back”) in orange, and the adductor muscle group in green. The dark streaks are tendons, and the circle in the center is the femur.

The illuminated area of the injury, which means fluid, is highlighted with a red arrow. The water, which is part of the blood released as a result of the injury, glows brightly.

One slice is not enough to determine the extent of the injury. But already from this fragment, we can say that Novak has torn the long adductor muscle, which really prevented him from continuing the game in the final stages of the tournament.”
