Marin Chilich for the first time since 2007 has won the trophy of the Chelender series

36-year-old tennis player from Croatia Marin Chilich (ATP 143) has won his third title in his career and the first since 2007 at the Chelenger in Giron, Spain.

In the finals, Croat overheated the young Danist Elmer Meller (ATP 156) in two sets in 1 hour and 44 minutes.

An almost 18-year break of Croatian tennis player between the titles of the Chelener series is the longest tennis history. On the courts of Girona Marin exceeded the previous record of Andy Marrey – 17 years and 8 months. Chilich also became the second Corvat age, who won the title on the Chelenger, after Ivo Karlovich (39 years old, 2018, Chelener, Calgary).

Exactly a year ago – in 2024, the former third number of world tennis ranked 1056 in the ATP ranking, and in 2014 won the US Open. Then Marin confidently played in the semifinals of the Swiss tournament Roger Feder, and in the finale – Japanese Key Nisikory. Both with the same score of 3: 0 by sets.
