Legendary Serena Williams produces a new tennis series Netflix

23-time champion of a large helmet tournaments in a single discharge Serena Williams will become the executive producer of the future adaptation of the novel Taylor Jenkins Ride “Kerry Soto returns” developed by the Netflix platform.

The series will be created in collaboration with the producer company Williams Nine Two Six and will transfer to the screens the same novel 2022 about a professional tennis player, which returns to the court for the last season. According to Deadline, the series will partially display the career of Serena himself.

The 43-year-old American confirmed this news on her Instagram Stories, publishing a screenshot of Deadline article and marking her own producing company account.

The story tells of a fictional tennis legend Kerry Sota, who returns at 37 years after his career is completed to protect his record by the number of titles of the Great Schlem from the pressure of a young ascending star. Although Kerry Soto’s character is not directly based on Williams, Taylor Jenkins Raid has previously confessed that Serena’s career had had a significant impact on her novel’s plot. The writer herself will also perform the producer of the project.

This is not the first big Williams project behind the scenes. In 2024 she was the executive producer of the documentary series “In the Arena: Serena Williams”, as well as the movie “King Richard” (2021), which tells about Serena and Vinus Williams’s childhood in Compton. She worked on both projects with her sister and a multiple champion of the Great Schlem Vinus Williams tournaments.
