“Martha won “Neutral athlete Anna Blinka”, – WRITE: Sport.ua
“It was one of the best matches that I spent recently. It is very nice sometimes to win that way.
How was my adaptation in Miami? It is difficult to say. Probably, I was helped by the fact that I flew to Indian-Vells early, so I had more time to prepare here. I trained for over a week before the first match. The first meeting was not perfect because, in my opinion, training and matches are completely different things. Even if you think you are used to the conditions, everything can go differently in the match.
This week, many tennis players complained about the ball. There were many unexpected results in the tournament, not only in the female, but also in the male. It is difficult to say why this happens. Perhaps the corties for matches are different from the training, because on the site everything is felt differently – and not only the cover, but in general everything around. But I think I was able to adapt. I made conclusions from the past match, took into account my mistakes, and today’s performance I am really very pleased.
What do I need to go as far as possible in such tournaments? I need to keep that plan and the installations I have been working on. This season I already had good victories and quality matches. I try not to get hung up on the end result or on how a specific meeting ends. Instead, I focus on specific game tasks and my work, no matter who is on the other side of the court.
Today, before the match, Sandra and I discussed it a lot. She reminded me of how important it is to build stability not around victories and defeats, but around the daily workflow and how you manifest yourself daily.
It doesn’t matter what circumstances are in training or in the match – you just go out and try to do the maximum. Now I think the most important thing for me is to keep this approach.
Of course, it will only be more difficult, but I am glad that I have already gone at the stage of the tournament, where I will have to meet with the strongest tennis players in the world. These matches help me get better, it is in them that I really check myself. Although, of course, I try to teach and check my hand at training, but only matches with such rivals are the trials for which we all work. ”
In the fourth circle of Miami Open, Marta Kostyuk will play against the fourth racket of the world Jessica Pegula.
