For the first time in the history of tennis, two mothers are included in the top 10 of the WTA ranking

On February 2, the Women’s Tennis Association updated the WTA world ranking.

For the first time in history, the top 10 includes two mothers: Belinda Bencic (Switzerland, WTA 9) and Elina Svitolina (Ukraine, WTA 10).

Bencic returned to the top ten (for the first time since April 2023) back in January according to the results of the United Cup. Belinda gave birth to her daughter Bella in April 2024 and resumed her career in October of the same year.

Svitolina took 10th place at the Australian Open 2026, where she reached the semifinals. Elina climbed into the top 10 for the first time since September 2021. Svitolina gave birth to her daughter Skye in October 2022 and returned to Tour in April 2023.
