Bookmakers consider Rebeka Masarova to be the favorite for the meeting, but Daria, despite recent failures, has already proven her fighting ability. Will the Ukrainians be able to take revenge for the defeat in their last meeting at the Australian Open-2022 qualification?

The Ukrainian tennis player made it to the final of the qualification with some effort. In the first round, against the Colombian Emiliana Arango, Daria played a difficult three-set match (6:3, 5:7, 6:3), and in the second round she was accompanied by luck – the Czech Barbora Palitsova withdrew at the beginning of the second set with a score of 6:3 on the benefit of the Ukrainian tennis player.
Snigur ended last season with several successful futures performances, but victories over higher-ranked opponents are still difficult for her. I remember last year’s scenario, when Daria lost in Canberra, but was able to qualify for the Australian Open. Perhaps history will repeat itself this year, but for this, the Ukrainian needs to improve her serve, which is her weak point so far.

The Swiss tennis player reached the final of the qualification in a decent form. In the opening match, she beat Irene Burillo Escorihuela (6:7, 6:3, 6:1), turning the tide of the meeting after a failure in the first set. In the next round, Masarova defeated Anna Karolina Shmidlova (6:4, 7:5), without losing a single game on her serve.
At the same time, Masarova’s game is not flawless. The Swiss committed 41 unforced errors in the match against Burillo, which could be a problem against a tougher opponent. However, her aggressive game and powerful serve make Masarova a dangerous opponent on fast surfaces.

Prediction for the match
Masarova looks more confident on serve, but Snigur has already proven that she can fight even in difficult matches. In addition, the Ukrainian has the experience of successfully qualifying for the Australian Open last year. Despite the obvious advantage of the Swiss, Daryna is able to impose a fight due to a tight game in draws and tenacity.
Taking into account the intensity of the previous matches of both tennis players, we put a +3 handicap on Daria, because even in case of defeat, the Ukrainian is able to keep a decent score.
