Bad start to the season with a new coach. Zavatska left the tournament in Oakland

Ukrainian tennis player Katarina Zavatska (WTA 226) completed the WTA 250 hard tournament in Auckland, New Zealand.

In the 1st round of qualification, the Ukrainian lost in three sets Seleni Yanichievich (France, WTA 192) in 2 hours and 12 minutes.

Katarina Zavatska (Ukraine) – Selena Yanichievich (France) – 6:4, 1:6, 2:6

This was the second meeting of the rivals. Selena tied the score in head-to-head confrontations, 1:1.

For Zavatska, these were the first competitions in the new season, before the start of which she announced the beginning of cooperation with Ilya Marchenko, the captain of the women’s tennis team of Ukraine.

Yanichievich will meet Leire Romero-Gormaz (Spain, WTA 158) in the decisive round of selection.
