As an underdog, Soboleva beat the 169th racket at the W75 tournament in Trnava

Ukrainian tennis player Anastasia Soboleva (WTA 267) had a successful start at the ITF W75 tournament in Trnava (Slovakia), which is held on indoor hard surfaces.

In the first round, the Ukrainian defeated the fifth seed in two sets Jessica Ponchet (France, WTA 169) in 1 hour and 25 minutes.

Before the start of the match, bookmakers considered Ponchet to be the obvious favorite, and Soboleva to be the outsider.

Anastasia had a face-to-face confrontation with Jessica for the first time.

Soboleva achieved the most ranking victory since May 2025, when she passed Francesca Jones in the final of Roland Garros qualification – the Briton was then ranked 122nd in the WTA ranking.

Anastasia will compete against Radka Zelničkova (Slovakia, WTA 486) in the second round of the competition in Slovakia.
