Alcaraz won the 20th racket and again reached the 1/4 finals of the Australian Open

The leader of the world ranking of the APR Carlos Alcaraz from Spain became the first quarter-finalist of the 2026 Australian Open.

In the fourth round, the Spaniard lost in three sets Tommy Paul (ATP 20) from the USA. The meeting lasted 2 hours and 38 minutes.

Alcaraz played against Paul for the eighth time and won the sixth time against the opponent.

Carlos reached his 14th Grand Slam singles quarter-final, surpassing Björn Borg and Boris Becker (13 each) for the most in the Open Era among under-23 players.

In Melbourne, Alcaraz, in addition to Paul, also passed Adam Walton, Yannick Hanfmann and Corentin Muthe. So far, the Spaniard has never lost a set.

Carlitos has 88 wins in slams. Alcaraz (80.4%) passed Rafael Nadal (80.1%) for the best winning percentage against seeded opponents at GS (minimum 10 matches).

Carlos will play in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open for the third year in a row. In 2024, he lost to Alexander Zverev, and in 2025 to Novak Djokovic.

His next opponent will be the winner of the confrontation between Alexander Bublyk and Alex de Minaur.
