Alcaraz started the Final Tournament with a win, defeating de Minaur

The second number of the world ranking of the APR Carlos Alcaraz from Spain won the first match at the ATP 2025 Final Tournament held in Turin (Italy).

In the first round of Jimmy Connors’ group, the Spaniard defeated the representative of Australia in two sets Alex de Minaur (ATP 7) in 1 hour and 42 minutes.

Carlos Alcaraz (Spain) – Alex de Minaur (Australia) – 7:6 (7:5), 6:2

In the first game, Alcaraz was leading 4-1 with a break and had three straight break points in the sixth game on reception, but allowed Alex to break back and even lead 5-3 in the tiebreak. Carlos managed to take the first set and the Australian did not cause any problems in the second.

Alcaraz held his fifth head-to-head against de Minaur and picked up his fifth win, including his third of 2025.

Carlos won the opening match at the ATP Finals for the first time. Alcaraz is appearing at the Final for the third time – in 2023, he reached the semifinals.
