Yevhen KONOPLYANKA: “Such a coach cannot be fired”

Former football player of the national team of Ukraine Evgeny Konoplyanka spoke about the fact that in Ukrainian football, a coach can be fired for 2-3 unsuccessful matches with the team.

“As a player, I think it’s not always right. You need to understand the context: how experienced is the coach, what conditions does he have, what is the club’s budget. If this is a project that actually starts from scratch, it is obvious that the process takes time.

Let’s take Polissia as an example. They have a clear goal – to get to the top three. If the team takes fourth place, it is not a failure at all. And it makes no sense to talk about a change of coach here. But if the club has a big budget, loud ambitions, and falls to the middle of the table, then, of course, natural questions arise.

The same with other teams. If this is a conditional average of the league, who sometimes wins, sometimes loses – no one expects constant stability from him. Everything depends on the ambitions of the president, the management, the coach himself.

Myron MARKEVYCH:

Therefore, in my opinion, you cannot fire a coach after two or three unsuccessful games. If you have chosen the right people – those who think alike, strive to win, move forward – the result will surely come. In football, as in life, there are no unreal things. There are simply those who believe in the process, and those who give up too soon,” said Konoplyanka.
