Bulcroft, left, and co-defendant Benjamin Williams were both jailed at Sheffield Crown Court on FridayAs reported by the BBC, the 48-year-old was earlier sentenced to 10 years at Sheffield Crown Court.

He had previously been found guilty after a four-day trial in which the jury returned a unanimous verdict earlier this year.

The court heard Bulcroft used the Encrochat encrypted phone network to buy “significant amounts” of cocaine under the pseudonym “Yummycub”.

Bulcroft denied the charges during the trial, and claimed that boxers he trained sometimes stayed at his house, and that the pseudonym belonged to one of them.

Co-defendant Benjamin Williams, 42, pleaded guilty during the trial, and so saw his matching sentence of 10 years dropped by 15 per cent to eight and a half.

Judge Peter Hampton remarked that the men had been “motivated by financial greed” and possessed “scant mitigation” in relation to their crimes.

Bulcroft had a career in the ring himself before moving into coaching, holding the British lightweight title in 2006.

The peak of his competitive years came in 2007 when he faced down British boxing icon Amir Khan at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, but lost.

He had a professional boxing record of 29 wins, seven defeats and one draw.

He retired in 2010 to pursue a career outside the ring, primarily in training Yorkshire boxing prospects.

Following his conviction in June, a spokesperson for the British Boxing Board of Control Central Area Council said Bulcroft’s licenses as a trainer, manager and promoter would be reviewed following his sentencing.
