– You started playing football at a more serious level at the Dynamo Kyiv academy. How did you get there?
– Playing for Dynamo Kyiv was a childhood dream. For as long as I can remember, my dad and older brother always went to Kyiv for Dynamo matches at the Lobanovskyi Stadium and at NSC Olimpiyskiy. When I was training in “Olympia” from Fastiv, we had a specialist who worked in the structure of “Dynamo”. He suggested that I go for a viewing. At that time, I trained for six months at Chayka. When I went to Kyiv and approached, I didn’t even believe that I had succeeded. Although it was not easy to train at the “Dynamo” school. Because it took one and a half to two hours to get to Kyiv from his village every day. But I still had to study at school. Sometimes he had to skip classes to make it to training. Over the past year and a half, I got tired of such a schedule. Maybe also because he was unformed, not used to such tests. However, I do not regret that it passed. These difficulties hardened me. It was necessary to show character every day.
– Why didn’t you stay at the Dynamo school?
– A difficult question. At first, I trained under the guidance of Yuri Yeskin. Then, out of two teams born in 2000, they made one. The coach has also changed. I had to leave soon. Everything turned out to be banal: after one of the training sessions, we were told to stay and it was announced who was leaving the team. A whole list of nine or ten guys. It was a huge blow for me. I was driving home with my dad and couldn’t calm down. I couldn’t believe that I was kicked out. And did not know what to do next. I even thought about quitting football. This also happened, although I was only 13. Later, similar thoughts crept in a few more times, but mom and dad helped. I came home, they started to discuss what to do. I decided that I will prove that I can and am capable. I immediately called the Chaika coach and informed him that I had been expelled from Dynamo. The coach supported me, told me to come back, that they were counting on me. In general, then the team supported me. I am grateful to the boys and the coach for this.
– Is there any resentment left after this story? Maybe you perceive “Dynamo” as a special irritant?
– No. I was a child. Why keep children’s images? Especially since there were enough difficulties in my career to continue. For example, when he played among amateurs for Vyshhorod “Chaika”. This team was created so that guys who did not get a job in professional football could train and play for another year and, perhaps, show themselves in front of representatives of one of the clubs. At the end of the season, the team was really disbanded. I went to watch Luhansk “Zorya” U19. It was a month of viewing. I was assured that I fit and, accordingly, I should stay. After a month of meetings, it really came down to signing the contract. It seemed that the formalities remained, but five days before the start of the championship they told me: “You are not suitable. There will be no contract.”
