According to the boxer’s manager, Usyk needs a long recovery.
After the end of the last match, the athlete did not resemble a person who thinks about the end of his career, however, most likely, he will get a long rest, the publication notes.
In particular, in an interview with BoxingScene.com, the manager of Oleksandr Usyk, Egis Klimas, said that fans should not wait for the athlete to immediately return to the ring.
“It’s going to be a very long preparation. After 12 more rounds with Fury, he needs a good, long recovery,” he noted.
The publication recalled that Usyk’s interview after the fight was interrupted by Daniel Dubois, who demanded a rematch. It is known that Dubois is scheduled to fight Joseph Parker, so Klimas stressed that he should focus on that fight.
“Dubois has to beat Parker before he starts thinking about [Усика]”, – added the manager of the Ukrainian.
It is also known that after the fight, Fury’s team claimed the unfairness of the rematch result. In particular, Frank Warren from Queensberry Promotions analyzed the fight and said that Fury should have won.
Usyk, in turn, responded to the following statements by Warren during the press conference:
“Uncle Frank, I think, is blind. If Tyson says this is a Christmas present, well, thank you, God, not Tyson. Thank you, God. Thank you to my coach Yuri, thank you to my coach Kuba, thank you to my team. Listen, Frank, I think it’s crazy. Okay, I won.”
