Career Yuri Gorodniy was born on November 3, 1979 in Zhytomyr, studied at the City Ecological Lyceum №24. Yuri received his education as a psychologist, and later a coach at Ivan Franko Zhytomyr State University. He served in the police, the National Guard, a penitentiary, but then devoted his life to volleyball.
Trace in sports From an early age, Yuri played volleyball, then became a coach. In 2015, Yuri introduced park volleyball in Zhytomyr.
Gorodny regularly participated with his teams in the status of a trainer and player in all -Ukrainian and regional tournaments from classic, beach and park volleyball.
Yuri worked as a trainer-teacher of the Volleyball Department at Junior School # 1 and the Regional Sports School “Youth”, and also taught physical education at one of the local schools. He was trained in a volleyball judge and judged for some time the matches of the Ukrainian Championship.
In 2021, Gorodny opened two volleyball clubs: “Ambassador” – for boys, “rocket” – for girls.
The main achievement of Yuri’s pupils was the second place in the Ukrainian Championship among young men in 2005 in 2017.
Combat experience Shortly after the commencement of a full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation Gorodniy, sending his wife with his daughters to Poland, was mobilized to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the rank of chief sergeant 3 of the company, in/h A4044 since March 2022. The husband quickly found himself on the front line, and his wife reassured that he was training in Malin in Zhytomyr region.
Death On May 16, 2022, Yuriy Gorodniy died as a result of enemy artillery shelling in the settlement of Troitske Popasnyansky district in Luhansk region. The projectile hit the armor. There were ammunition near the armor. And when the hit happened, everything began to explode. It was a very scary fire that lasted for two or three days. Yuri burned to the ashes.
Since then, the wife has been busy to find and bury the remains of a lover. The relatives were able to bury Yuri only on December 11, 2023 at the Smolyansky Military Cemetery of Zhytomyr. The wife brought to the funeral a large bouquet of white roses, which Yuri always gave her. From the daughter of Yana to the grave, Daddy mom brought a teddy bear.
Family Yuri met his wife Inna in January 2015 in the center of Zhytomyr. It was love at first sight. “He suggested that me meet. And when I came out of the minibus, I immediately felt that she was my future husband. He came to work every day on weekdays, and we went home together. Every time I gave me white roses and the most delicious oranges in the world, ”Inna recalled in an interview with Social Zhytomyr.
Already in April 2015, the couple married. The family raised two daughters – Karin and Jan. Jana was born in 2020 and, according to her mother, was a pearl for her dad.
“We constantly helped each other. We worked and did not get tired. We have lived with my husband for almost seven years, seven happy years. But during this time, unfortunately, they never got together, ”says Inna Gorodnya.
Honoring From 2023 in Zhytomyr on the initiative of the then head of the regional volleyball federation, now the deceased Vladimir Shirma began to hold the All-Ukrainian Children’s Tournament on Volleyball Memory of Yuri Gorodny.
