In 2020, Gerasimov got to Metalist’s Fanat Collective SPC (Simmer Polecats Crew), where his mixed martial art coach Alexander Klushin was already there at that time. He participated in many around the last years in recent years before a full -scale war, and his shyness compensated for stubbornness and character in a fight. In the Fanat environment, Gerasimov was nicknamed Birch.
In anticipation of the approach of a full -scale war, Kharkiv fan’s teams conducted training. Denis joined the volunteer group formed by his coach at the special unit of the East Police.
Combat experience From the first day of the Great War, Birch got to the weapon, although he had only 18 years at the time. On the evening of February 24, 2022, he called his parents and said that he would not come home today and would remain helping the boys in the city. He was the youngest representative of the SPC Division unit. The brothers mention that Denis remained with the unit in the most difficult periods for the city and all that he could, helped guys from the 92nd brigade to defend and liberate the area. Birch dreamed of continuing service at Sirko’s Besketters, but could not get to the unit because of her young age.
After that, Denis went to prepare for the Azov brigade. Having passed his studies, he joined the 3rd Battalion 12 BSVP “Azov”, where he held the position of grenade launcher. The relatives of his step were learned when Denis became a recruit. The brothers remember Birch as a brave warrior and a true friend who was not afraid to go to the most dangerous tasks. Calling home, he was always in good humor. He told his parents that all was well, and after the war he planned to continue to do military affairs.
Death Denis Gerasimov died on September 20, 2023, a month after his 20th anniversary. During the combat mission in the Serebryansky Forest near the Kremlin Siverskovodonetsk district in Luhansk region, Birch was fatal wounds as a result of enemy mortar shelling.
The warrior was buried on the Walk of Glory of Kharkiv Cemetery # 18.
Posthumous Denis Gerasimov was awarded the Order of Courage III.
