“The film will be directed by Zach Heinzerling”, — write: sport.ua
The documentary series will tell about the brilliant career of Nadal, as well as about his life outside the court, will show materials from Nadal’s personal archive that have not been published before, and will provide an opportunity to talk with the tennis star, his family and the closest circle of coaches and advisers ( it is about an interview).
Oscar nominee and Emmy winner Zach Heinzerling (“Stolen Youth,” “Beauty and the Boxer,” “McCartney 3,2,1″) will direct. The as-yet-untitled docuseries will be produced by David Ellison, Jesse Sisgold, Jason Reed and John Weinbach.
“I never thought I’d do something like this, but I got a call from David Allison and his words, along with the amazing project they showed me, really convinced me that it was the right decision. Everyone will be able to see what my life was like during my tennis career, and especially in this last year.
It will also show how my life and my tennis career have developed over the years. I am sure that the final product, a documentary series, will be amazing and that the whole world will see it. My thanks to David Ellison and his team at Skydance for creating and believing in this project.
Thanks to my family and my crew for letting us film last year, I know it wasn’t easy for all of us. To my colleagues and peers who have taken the time to be in front of the camera for some time. And thanks to tournaments around the world that made it easier, it wasn’t easy,” said Rafael Nadal.
Nadal played his last match in November, losing to Botic van de Zaanshulp in a Spain-Netherlands Davis Cup tie.
Interestingly, Nadal has previously collaborated with Netflix. At the beginning of March, Rafa played an exhibition match against Carlos Alcaraz (6:3, 4:6, [12:14]) in Las Vegas, which was broadcast on the Netflix platform, hence the name Netflix Slam.
He rewrote tennis history. Now it’s time for him to tell his own story. A Rafael Nadal documentary reflecting on the milestones that defined him and the final chapter of his legendary journey is coming to Netflix. pic.twitter.com/CakipWiypL
