The UAF made a statement about the legendary Valery Lobanovskyi

January 6 to an outstanding coach, Hero of Ukraine Valery Lobanovskyi would have turned 87 years old. On this significant day, the press service of the Ukrainian Football Association dedicated an article on its official website to the legend of Ukrainian football.

Valery Vasyliovych Lobanovskyi was born in Kyiv on January 6, 1939. Played for “Dynamo” Kyiv, “Chornomorets” Odesa, “Shakhtar” Donetsk.

Headed FC “Dnipro” Dnipro and “Dynamo” Kyiv. Under the leadership of Lobanovsky, Dynamo Kyiv triumphed in the 1975 and 1986 Cup Winners’ Cups and the 1975 UEFA Super Cup.

Lobanovskyi's place in the ranking of the best coaches of all time has been determined

Under the leadership of Valery Lobanovskyi, the USSR national team became a bronze medalist at the 1976 Olympics and a silver medalist at Euro 1988, and the Kuwait national team, with which Valery Vasyliovych also worked, has a bronze medal at the 1994 Asian Games. Metr led the national team of Ukraine in 2000–2002.

Valery Lobanovsky was awarded the UEFA Rubin Order of Merit and the FIFA Order of Merit.

The legendary coach died on May 13, 2002 in Zaporizhzhia.
