Early years and path before formula-1
Jack Duen was born in a family of a legend of motor vehicles – his father, motorcyclist Mick Mick Duen, is a five -time world champion in the 500CC class. However, Jack decided to go the other way by choosing car racing instead of motor racing.
Like most future formula pilots, he began his career in karting. Jack’s first map received as a birthday gift from Michael Schumacher himself. He was debut to him in 2013 in local Australian championships, where he spent most of the picture career, from time to time winning in separate series. In international competitions, its best result was the 3rd place in the 2017 European Championship.
The transition to formula series took place in 2018, when Duen made his debut in various formula-4 championships. It was the best season in the British series, where he took 5th place with three victories and 12 catwalks. The successful debut year has provided him with the transition in 2019 to formula-3. That year, he best manifested himself in the Asian Formula-3 Championship, becoming a Vicechpion with a gap of 25 points from the leader. In the 2020 season, Jack repeated this result in Asia and made the next step-joined the European Formula 3 Championship. Despite the difficult first season, in 2021 he became a vicegum, winning four races, and also spent six stages in Formula-2.
In 2022, Jack became a formula-2 battle pilot, gradually gaining experience and increasing the pace. Already in the second season he was among the leaders of Peloton. The next year he became the last year in the youth championships – he managed to win some important victories and end the season in third place in the overall standings. However, there was no place in Formula 1 at that time, and his career could be threatened.
The rescue for the Australian was the unexpected situation in Alpin – Oscar Piastri abandoned the team in the team and went to McLaren. Although the French team quickly found a battle pilot, she still needed a backup racer. It was then that Duen was supported by Alpin and joined the team as a third pilot. In this status, he stayed until last year until he received his chance to make his debut in Formula 1. At the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, he replaced the unexpectedly liberated acorns of Okon, and was later officially declared a battle pilot for the 2025 season.
What to expect from Duen?
The 2025 season will be the first in the formula 1 for Jack Duan. He will be able to prove himself as part of the Alpine team, paired with Pierre Gasley, who at the end of last year showed a wonderful shape. Pierre is an experienced pilot that can be both a mentor and a serious rival within the team. Therefore, the Australian should come to his debut season in royal vehicles with all seriousness.
As with any racer, team team will be the main rival on the track. However, beyond Jack, there is an even more difficult struggle for a team. Alfin also has Franco Colapintto’s reserve pilot, who became one of the main sensations among newcomers last year. The Argentine did not have a loud name and significant results for his debut, but the team gave him a chance after Logan Sarjent removed. And she did not lose – in the rest of the season, Colapintto scored more points than his predecessor for his whole career (4 against 1).
Action and active media attention to this situation only increase tension. Therefore, Duan has an extremely difficult task, and attention to its results will be extremely high.
Jack Duen has all the prerequisites for a strong debut, but most importantly – to cope with pressure. In the younger series, he showed speed, aggressive piloting style and other skills that made him a pilot of formula-1. However, history knows many talented riders who had great hopes before their debut, but could not justify them. Jack has a chance not to get on this list and build a successful career in a team that is in the restructuring process and looking for a new way to success.
