Participant of the First League and quarter-finalist of the Cup of Ukraine – FC “Chernihiv– published a response for the FIFA president Gianni Infantino, who said that it is necessary to return to football suspended Russian teams.

“Here are the photos of our stadium destroyed by Russia, next to which Ukrainian children train every day.

Recently, the president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, said that he is ready to consider lifting the ban on the participation of Russian teams in international competitions.

For us, this statement sounds like a devaluation of the pain of thousands of Ukrainian athletes, coaches and children, whose lives were destroyed by Russian aggression.

FC Chernihiv strongly condemns any attempt to bring Russia back into international sport while it continues its war against Ukraine. Sports cannot be outside of politics, when politics is rockets at stadiums, athletes are killed, and children’s destinies are broken.

Admitting an aggressor to the competition is not “neutrality”, it is complicity and tacit consent,” the Chernihiv club reported.

Infantino’s words caused a sharp reaction in both the Ukrainian and the international football community. For example, the famous Ukrainian coach Myron Markevich invited the official to visit the frontline cities.
