American skier – Breezy Johnson – shared her thoughts on her first victory at the Olympic Games. The athlete won gold in downhill on the track in Cortina d’Ampezzo.

Breezy also spoke about her star partner Lindsay Vonn, who suffered a terrible fall and was evacuated from the track by helicopter.

“I thought this race would be the most competitive I’ve ever competed in. The girls here love this track. The sun was shining. The Tofane track had perfect conditions. And I knew that the gaps would be minimal. Hundredths of a second matter.

Although I had a good feeling about my performance. I still can’t believe it. During the check-in, I knew that I had to make more efforts. I understood that I have to work harder than in training. My performance had to be perfectly “clean” and I feel that I succeeded.

I don’t think my path is something that many would envy. If you go through hell, you keep going because you don’t want to just sit in hell. And sometimes, if you don’t stop, you might be able to reach the top again.

Vonn’s injury? Her coach said she cheered for me in the helicopter. I wish her all the best. I hope it’s not too serious. My heart aches for her,” Breezy said.
