“There must be reasons. We want the NCRECP to justify, to tell why. Because we have analyzed the work and we have at least 6 reasons where we can save money and not raise tariffs,” Orynchak said.
The association emphasizes the need for thorough research and dialogue with the main market players, most of which are state-owned companies, to determine real economic indicators and form a more realistic tariff policy.
“If we gather the main players of the market, again mainly state-owned companies, and talk with them, do some kind of research, so that, first of all, the economics of doing business in the gas transportation system, gas production is profitable. And then we can find a joint dialogue and numbers that were really real in relation to our tariff policy and in general the realities of doing business in Ukraine and tariff formation,” Orynchak stressed.
According to experts’ calculations, the increase in tariffs may lead to additional expenses of gas production companies in the amount of 7 billion hryvnias per year. At the same time, the state sector will suffer the most, since about 300 of the more than 400 special permits for oil and gas production belong to state companies.
“Look, approximately more than 400 special permits for oil and gas extraction are produced. The concentration of about 300 of these is for state companies. Accordingly, the state sector will be the first to feel this,” explained Ksenia Orynchak.
Earlier, the Association of Gas Production Companies turned to the energy regulator to discuss a possible increase in tariffs for gas transportation. Gas producers drew attention to the lack of necessary information in the justification of the project, which makes it difficult to understand the key parameters of the new tariffs.
