As Sport.ua learned, the 17-year-old Manchester United midfielder Zachary Baumann started the process of obtaining Ukrainian citizenship. The player of the youth team “Red Devils” wants to play for the national team of Ukraine.

This information was confirmed by the coach of the youth national team of Ukraine U-19 Dmytro Mykhaylenkowho spoke about the Red Devils football player.

“Of course, we have been following him since he expressed his desire to play for the Ukrainian national team. Our representatives talked with him and his parents. If there is a desire for a player to obtain citizenship, then this is definitely a positive point and we should encourage it.

First of all, when calling up players from foreign clubs, we must adhere to the principle of sportsmanship, and it does not matter where the footballer plays. First of all, he must meet the level of the best players of the Ukrainian national team, this is the main indicator,” Mykhaylenko said.

Zachery Baumann was born in the city of Bolton in a family of Ukrainian emigrants. The player’s grandparents live in the city of Kolomyia.

In the current season, the midfielder played 4 matches and scored 1 goal for the Manchester United U-18 team.
