This was the first meeting of the rivals. Todoni made her way into the base of the major by qualifying.

In the first game, Zheng won 5:3, but in the 10th game on serve, she failed to realize 3 set points. Todoni led 6:5 and already earned 3 set points at the reception, but in the end the Chinese woman still managed to close the game in a tie-break.

Zheng Qinwen played in the Australian Open final last year, where she lost to Arina Sobolenko.

It was Zheng’s first match in 2025. Her next opponent will be the winner of the confrontation between Laura Siegemund and Haley Baptiste.
