Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa (WTA 12) had a successful start at the hard WTA 500 tournament in Adelaide, Australia.
In the round of 16, the Spaniard lost in three sets Peyton Stearns (USA, WTA 47) in 2 hours and 45 minutes.

This was the second meeting of the rivals. Badosa won both head-to-head matches.
Paula held the second match in the new season. Last week, she lost to Elina Avanesyan in the 1/16 finals of the WTA 500 competition in Brisbane.
In the 2nd round of the 500 in Adelaide, Badosa can play against Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk (WTA 18) if she defeats Ashlyn Kruger (USA, WTA 54).
