Team leader F1: “I would never say we’ll get a podium before”

Alex Albon confessed that he did not count on the Podium for Williams this season, but the team made a “big step forward”.

At the Grand Prix of Azerbaijan Carlos Sines rose to the Podium for Williams, which became the first finish in the top 3 for a team from the Grand Prix of Belgium in 2021-George Russell finished second.

“In early 2025, I would never say that we will be able to climb the podium – and even close to the pace of leaders,” Albon admitted.

“But already during the test race, it was clear that the team took a big step forward – even larger than I expected.”

“I am inspired by the fact that we are only 60-70% of our journey-perhaps even less and could still climb the podium. There are still many directions to develop. ”

“But with the resources we have, we can already compete with the top commands, and this is even more motivated to work on improvements.”
